The new location is on the front of dash sheet metal (3) at the rear of the engine compartment, inboard or to the left of the alternator (4). The passenger or right side windshield wiper arm (5) and stop (6) are called out for reference purposed only.

1. Turn the steering wheel to the full right position.fuel pump resistor
2. Open the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Raise the car on a hoist.
4. At the right front wheel opening, take away the three screws that attach the internal fender splash defend to the entrance fascia at the wheel opening and the two screws that attach it to the bottom of the fascia. It’s not essential to remove the other interior fender splash protect screws.
5. Reposition the interior fender splash protect to access the fuel pump resistor.
6. Remove the 2 bolts attaching the windshield washer reservoir to the rear mounting bracket and remove the one bolt attaching the bracket to the body.
7. From beneath the vehicle, using a 10mm box or open end wrench, take away the bolt that attaches the fuel pump resistor to the body.
8. Unclip the fuel pump resistor pigtail electrical (2-wire) connector from the sheet metallic subsequent to the battery and disconnect the connector. Pull the resistor wiring and connector down and out from below the vehicle. Discard the fuel pump resistor and mounting bolt.
9. Reinstall the windshield washer reservoir rear mounting bracket to the body and install the bolt. Tighten the bolt to 7 NJm (62 lb ft). Install the 2 bolts that attach the windshield washer reservoir to the rear mounting bracket.Tighten the bolts to five NJm (forty four lb in).
10. Reposition and align the internal fender splash protect to the entrance fascia and install the 5 screws. Tighten Tighten the screws to 2 NJm (18 lb in).
11. Decrease the hoist.
12. Route the physique side wiring connector that was connected to the resistor so that it runs along the underside aspect of the diagonal brace over the battery as shown. Utilizing a plastic tie strap from the package, secure the resistor harness to the diagonal brace.
13. Verify that the black conduit on the wiring harness is protecting the wiring from any sharp edges. Reposition the conduit and harness if necessary.
14. If equipped, remove the nuts attaching the cross car brace/bar to the left and right strut towers and remove the brace.
15. Place the new fuel pump resistor on the entrance of the sprint sheet steel at its NEW mounting location. Mark the situation for the outlet to be drilled in the front of the dash sheet metal. Utilizing a 3.5mm (9/64 in) diameter drill bit, drill a gap on the location marked.
16. Place the fuel pump resistor cover on the resistor and position the meeting on the front of the dash sheet steel with the hole within the sheet steel in alignment with the outlet in the resistor cover. Install the bolt supplied with the kit by the cover and the resistor and into the opening within the entrance of the dash. Tighten Tighten the bolt to 1.5 NJm (13 lb in).
17. Route the new fuel pump resistor wiring harness along the entrance of the dash and safe it to the vacuum harness conduit on the location using a plastic tie included with the kit. Continue routing the resistor wiring harness following the prevailing conduit on the highest of the proper entrance strut tower. Safe it to the prevailing conduit at the location using a plastic tie.
18. Proceed routing the resistor wiring harness all the way down to the diagonal brace and connect it to the wiring harness hooked up earlier. If geared up, set up the cross automobile brace and nuts. Tighten Tighten the nuts to 18 NJm (13 lb ft).
19. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
20. Start the engine to verify proper fuel pump resistor operation.
